Post Update Cleanup

As you’d imagine, we’ve got a good batch of fixes from the Gang Warfare update. There were actually fewer than I was expecting, which is nice.

Here’s the list:

  • Beancounters should now be labeled consistently across screens rather than being “Stash” in some places and “Beancounters” others. Thanks, Mag, for pointing this one out.
  • Your currently selected Avatar is now displayed first (with explanation). Special order for PaidPiedPiperPal.
  • Old NPC messages (from contacts) are now cleared when you Beta Reset. Thanks for the suggestion, LlamaMan.
  • Brutality was still irritatingly common. That should be fixed now. If it went to far in the opposite directly, we’ll tweak more. Thanks to The Kitchen Sink for the note.
  • The smuggling section in the ‘Gang Stash’ tab now displays the amount you have spent on smugglers, regardless of whether you have any profits to give them. Good suggestion, PaidPiedPiperPal.
  • Adding profits to your smuggler doesn’t wait for you to reload the page to correctly display profits. Good catch, The Kitchen Sink.
  • Fixed a bug right at release where installing a smuggler required you have a smuggler. <_< >_> Thanks, PaidPiedPiperPal.
  • Also had a heaping helping of typos reported by Argeth, Man Mobile, PaidPiedPiperPal, and The Kitchen Sink.

I haven’t been keeping up as much with posting updates as I normally am, due to the Gang Warfare work. But here’s the list, as best I recorded:

  • Buffs in the character pane will be sorted by how much Energy they have remaining. Good suggestion PaidPiedPiperPal.
  • Multicrafting (and other activities taking multiple energy) will now tax buffs as they should. Thanks for the bug report, Wyrd!
  • You can no longer deal negative damage with Area of Effect attacks. Thanks Valliant, for the catch.
  • Lo should now be satiated with one Eclipse. What a lush. Thank you, Mr. Green for pointing this one out.
  • We also have a helping of typos from Harrakan, RikiTikiTavi, PaidPiedPiperPal, Argeth, and Metro.

Quick Updates

Slipped in a couple of updates while working on the PvP upgrades.

  • Using ‘extra’ rotting journals will now provide some effects.
  • Clearing out a full Chain will no longer lock out adding new chain in. Thanks for the bug report, The Kitchen Sink.
  • Multiple scripts can now run at the end of a combat. Notably, encounters with Spectral Sailors and Twisted Hounds will give the appropriate rewards. Thanks, Argeth!
  • Added links to the Forums from the login and info pages. Thanks for the suggest, Llamaman!
  • The warehouse inventory will now give prototype directions if you’ve finished Larry’s quest. Good suggestion, PaidPiedPiperPal.
  • First Aid Kits now have a multi-use option. Thanks again to Argeth.
  • And typos from DanBob, Llamaman, Prestige, Jick, and Magnifico.

And Bug Fixes

Also have a bunch of bug fixes over the last few days. Let’s go straight to the list:

  • Corrected a bug allowing massive over-donation to the gang stash. Thanks to Metro and Al for reporting this.
  • Finessed some the second chess opponent in terms of verbiage and rewards. Thanks Argeth and The Kitchen Sink.
  • You can no longer include negative numbers of a Technique in your deck. Thanks to Metro for hammering these out.
  • In The Jungle is no longer a quest item to keep it in line with the books like Chess for Beginners and Quantum Mechanics. Thanks for the suggestion, PaidPiedPiperPal.
  • Noncombats that damage you to the point you need to rest will now give better feedback. Thanks to Metro on this one.
  • Also, lots of other typos corrected thanks to Mag, Man Mobile, A Naked Jew, Bete Noire, and the ongoing efforts of Metro.

Today’s Updates

I’ve been updating more or less constantly, but didn’t want to clutter the updates here. The changes since my last post include:

  • Fixed some serious PHP problems related to me adding code for the new content. Thanks Nytmare!
  • Corrected a Slags Beach encounter that’d been in for a while but no one had found before. Thanks and grats Wyrd.
  • The second chess opponent should now be accepting challengers. Thanks for ferreting that out, Argeth!
  • And a whole ton of typos. Thanks to Argeth, A Naked Jew, The Kitchen Sink, and especially Metro for pointing these out.

Update Spree!

First off, hello to everyone from Kingdom of Loathing! Nice to see all the new faces. If you run into any bugs, even seemingly trivial stuff, please send me a message or bug report.

I believe I’m caught up on all the messages and bug reports for now, so if I missed anything, feel free to resend it. I am actually still in the process of moving, but I’m supposed to be settled with internet access by Friday.

Here is a quick rundown of the bug reports that we’ve caught up with:

  • Thanks to Man Mobile and Squarebob Fancy Pants for reporting problems with registering accounts containing a space. That should now work properly.
  • Paid Pied Piper Pal managed to find (but not fall victim too) a bug that’d kill off Lo for no good reason. He’s also helped test out a lot of the weirdness with a dying man in the Slags.
  • Everyone’s favorite Third Eye Lieutenant should respond to questions about the Lost Son in more situations. Thanks to Argeth for this one.
  • Thanks to Jick for pointing out some problems in the quest log when selling the Squatter King’s crate of medicine.
  • Expanded the explination of what’s going on when you open a crate of Eclipse. Thanks to Audesapere for pointing out the vagueness.
  • Finally fixed the border around the map images (particularly between the two on the Docks) in Firefox. Thanks to Nytmare for the nudge on this one.
  • Also cleared up a nice batch of typos from Argeth, Rikitikitavi, A Naked Jew, and Llamaman.

Bug Fixes

Quite a few bug fixes over the last few days, figured I’d report on them. Should have a big feature update later today, as well.

  • Chain of Needles should now work properly in chains. Thanks to Twitch for the bug report.
  • Various PvP reward encounters shouldn’t result in SQL errors anymore. Thanks to Atheos and Amojechr!
  • PvP encounters will no longer drop items even if you are defeated. Thanks to Argeth.
  • Special messages will now be sent out with PvP when you defeat an defender the same round you are defeated. Thanks to Argeth for pointing this out.

And, not really a bug fix, but I slightly changed the behavior of the Quantum Mechanics book.

Today’s Updates

As you can imagine, most of today’s updates involve Gang Warfare. If you haven’t gotten into that yet, there is one update of note:

  • The Techniques page now orders by Chain number then alphabetically. This is purely a usability change, so if you feel this makes your life harder or easier, I’d love to hear feedback. Thanks to PaidPiedPiperPal for the push here.

On to the gang and gang warfare updates:

  • You should now receive mail messages when you win or lose defending an area. Love it? Hate it?
  • It now displays in the Gang Warfare screen within the Gangs options what areas your gang currently has a hold in. An item has appeared on the scene that also helps give this feedback.
  • There will now be a Gang link on the top pane for gang members. Thanks to PaidPiedPiperPal for pointing this one out.
  • Like profiles, gang pages now show a Previous, Random, and Next at the bottom. Should make looking for stuff a bit easier. Thanks to MoreUmlaut for the suggestion.
  • Your credits total in the character pane will now immediately update on creating a gang. Cheers to PaidPiedPiperPal for the bug report.
  • Performing gang actions (like whitelisting and blacklisting) from the profile screen will no longer temporarily make the target look like they’re part of your gang. Thanks to both MoreUmlaut and PaidPiedPiperPal for bringing this one to my attention.

Keep up the great work everybody! Keep the bug reports rolling in and have fun beating each other up a bit.

  • Sell Multi will now work properly. Thanks Sildra!
  • Trauma Tech will now display properly with other First Aid items. Thank you for the bug report, Argeth.
  • Flying Eyes now carry wings instead of pants. Thanks for noting the weird, MoreUmlaut.
  • Third Eye Poseur shouldn’t be more difficult than the actual Third Eyes now. Because that was a little silly.
