Back From GenCon

Monday, August 9th, 2010

So, I’m back from the best four days in gaming and caught up on bug reports. Also sick as a dog, which is how this tends to work.

  • One of the branches of David’s quest wasn’t completing properly. Thanks for the bug report, xKiv!
  • The buffs from Cinematic Dodge had been broken for a while but should be working now. Good eyes, TeKRunner!
  • The Cured Shark Hide is craftable. Good catch, Sir Cheddar!
  • Burning Ectoplasm actually does damage like it’s supposed to. Thanks Cryptodynamic!
  • On a totally unrelated note, you can no longer take negative damage from things like Burning Ectoplasm. Thanks Llamaman!
  • Fixed some quirks resting in the lake. Thanks for the bug reports, Vholes and Der Magus!

Also, thanks to Mag, Argeth, Llamaman, Vholes Piper, Cryptodynamic, Nyther, Amasius, Happy Yeti, TeKRunner, borkman, and Al for help sorting out some Survivors’ typos. So… many… typos.

Cheers!

First of July Fixes

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

Did some spring cleaning and by “spring cleaning” I apparently mean “fixing crazy bugs.” Crazy bugs that all seem to be strangely meta, preying on computers in game… I won’t think about that too long.

  • Fixed an item duping bug in the suite code. Huge thank you to Sir Cheddar for keen eyes and honesty.
  • Corrected an issue where the Unlocked Midgard Player was a consumable item rather than equipment. Thanks Mag!
  • There shouldn’t be PHP errors popping up in the rhythm game anymore. Not that it isn’t strangely appropriate. Thanks for the bug report, Thunderbird!
  • Sorted out an issue where the Extreme Bass XIII game was comparing your lifetime score against the leaderboard. Thanks to Mag for walking me through this one until I saw the error.
  • And fixed up some typos thanks to Cryptodynamic, Vholes Piper, and Shard.

Cheers!

April Updates Bring…

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

Wanted to mention some of the updates that have gone in recently. Mostly I’ve been working on the Survivor’s Quest pre-content, which is coming along now.

  • In the inventory, empty equipment slots are listed if you have some of that item type available. Thanks to Mag for the suggestion.
  • Corrected an error where Vigilante fights weren’t costing Energy consistently. Good catch, NeonGrey!
  • Fixed up the dates on the Updates pane to say 2010… you know, the year we’ve been in for a while. Thanks for catching that, DanBob!
  • Corrected how stuns (mostly Petrol Splash) are displayed so you shouldn’t run into situations where a stun is displayed after a round where they did nothing. This was the topic of enough bug reports, I figured it counts as broken.
  • Percentage Penalties are now displayed properly.
  • And some good ol’ fashioned typo fixes from Llamaman, Vholes Piper, Mag, NeonGrey, and Cryptodynamic.

Cheers!

Hack the Planet… or at least Florida

Friday, February 26th, 2010

I just got back from my vacation in Florida (Clearwater, if you’re curious). Bug reports and the like should be caught up, so if you have any outstanding bugs, feel free to pester me again.

As it turns out, all the bugs I remember fixing over vacation are hacking/net combat related. Well that and a lot of typos :)

  • Unplugging from a net combat should now replenish net stats properly. Thanks Nyther!
  • Javascript should no longer go utterly berserk heading from a net combat to the meatspace kind (well… net-meatspace rather than net-net… yeah) while in Firefox. Thanks for the bug report, Cryptodynamic!
  • Intercept Code and Extract Code should now play together properly rather than getting into a fight and breaking all their toys. Good catch, Mag!
  • Also, thanks to Llamaman, Al, Xerf, Plus4, Mag, and Thrillhouse for reporting some typos and grammatical weirding.

Cheers!

Ho! Ho! Huh?

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

On today’s special holiday episode of the devblog, we have:

  • We’ve added a personal touch to the Abominable Snowman leaderboard, revealing where you stand. Thanks for the suggestion, Man Mobile, and some bug finding from Mag.
  • Horned Snowmen will no longer use their ultimate “Turn your weapon into a Brain Staples Single” attack. Thanks for the suggestion, Mag and Deathknight.
  • Fixed up some icicle errors. Thanks for the bug report, Valera.
  • You now need to be in the Slags to give Hel her Christmas gift of a containment suit. Thanks for pointing this out Pyren and Vholes.
  • Larry’s extra-special gift is likewise better given in person. Good suggestion from a ways back, thanks to Mr. Green.
  • Thanks for some very festive typo fixes from Mag, Valera, Argeth, and Al.
  • Also, the Flying Eyes got an early Christmas present from yours truly.

Cheers!

Bug Fixes

Thursday, October 8th, 2009

It occurs to me it’s been a bit since I posted the bug fixes. Here’s what we’ve got:

  • Fixed a pair of bugs that were allowing descriptions to leak out early. Thanks Al and Cryptodynamic!
  • In the process of fixing that, broke the description system in several novel ways (my favorite being that you couldn’t see your shirt’s description.) Thanks for the bug reports Cristiona, Edwahd, Nyther, Lord Finisher, Blarghgh, and PaidPiedPiperPal.
  • Added some spaces where they were desperately needed. Good call, Ricket.
  • Resolved an issue where the Energy on certain special fights was being charged up front. Good eyes, Lord Finisher.
  • Continuing the theme, broke noncombats while I was in there. Thanks for the bug report, vandamien.
  • Corrected an issue where you could lock yourself out of Mikhail’s reward for the Docks quest if Lo leaves before you take it. Good catch, xKiv!
  • Also fixed an issue where certain hacking sites were giving away Christmas presents. In October! I know, it’s crazy :) Thanks, slyspawn!
  • Thanks to RazielSonofKain and especially Mag for hunting down some typos for me.

Status on what I’m working on is: done with the crafting stuff I was dragging on (about five dozen items, some new buffs/techniques, and a bunch of skills). Next is dialogue for that branch, followed by a break working on other stuff you’ll see sooner to clear my head.

Cheers!

Updates!

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

Some fixes today, mostly on the targeting end of things and some bugs that folks have noticed because of it. Kind of interesting to see what shakes out when you expose information folks weren’t seeing before.

  • Killing targets shouldn’t screw up the indicator anymore. Thanks to BeerBuddha, Mag, and RazielSonofKain for those bug reports.
  • Hopefully we’ve squashed the sporadic issues where defenders in net combat would hang on an extra round before dying. Give me a holler if you run into this again. Thanks for the bug report, Rykar!
  • Fixed a really neat bug where certain items were displaying “0 in inventory” incorrectly when using the “Display Listings Only” checkbox in the Mall. Excellent catch, bonbon!
  • The Fractal Understanding effect from the new donation item shouldn’t immediately be taxed Energy as you’re gaining it. Thanks, Rykar.
  • Clicking the same target again won’t hide the indicator anymore. Thanks Al!
  • Added mouseover text to avatars so you can see their names. A suggestion from the forums.
  • Corrected some typos courtesy of Edwahd, Mag, and Argeth.

And that’s it for today. Other than that, I’ve been working on a sweet puzzle in the Survivors’ Quest content. It’s still a while out, so I’ll be dropping in some other interesting stuff whenever I need a break.

Cheers!

Updates! We got updates!

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

Been working on the Survivors’ Quest and this month’s donation item, but have slipped in a few fixes.

  • Buffed Password Guesser so it can now take down multiple opponents. Good suggestion, Rykar.
  • Fixed a bug with that was giving Red Alert on random hacking sites. Thanks to Mag, Argeth, and Llamaman for helping me squash this one.
  • Overkilling an enemy in hacking will now show them as “dead” appropriately. Thanks Rykar!
  • Petrol Splash should now be working as intended. I promise :) Thanks to Pyren for and everyone else who’s helped with this one.
  • Added some new tidbits of information to the MBR Lab. Good idea, Argeth!
  • Also fixed up some typos from Mag, Man Mobile, dfmchfhf, Artie Effham,PaidPiedPiperPal, Pyren, and Fr00d! Thanks, everybody :)

Cheers!

Hacking Updates

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

A few updates, almost all hacking related. Because that is how I roll, apparently.

  • One of the ways hacked sites leave the system wasn’t implemented. It should be working now.
  • When fighting multiple defenders in hacking, one being destroyed should now show an appropriate void. Thanks to Starwed, Mag, and Nyther for the bug reports!
  • Sands of Time got a buff so it can now defeat the Firewall tool. Thanks Rykar, for getting me on this train of thought.
  • In a strangely non-hacking update, hopefully fixed a long standing issue where techniques that care what your opponent is doing didn’t care if your opponent was dead. If that didn’t make sense, just ignore it :) Thanks JTN2001!
  • And thanks to Nyther, Thrillhouse, and particularly Mag for some typo fixes.

Cheers!

Avatars and Others

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

A pair of unrelated Avatar changes:

  • You can now change Avatar in the account preferences screen, whether or not you are in Gang Warfare.
  • There are two new avatars available.

And some bug fixes:

  • Crashing will now properly stop hackers and defenses from acting. Thanks Starwed!
  • Piercing is now described (in mouseover) where it shows up. Good suggestion, Wyrd.
  • Pressing Enter in the outfit text box should now save the outfit instead of changing to something random. Thanks to Valera, our dedicated “making sure Enter works in every text box” checker :)
  • For the trifecta of “strange things found in misdirected shipments,” cans are not sugar. Thanks Llamaman!
  • Using “Clear” in net combat shouldn’t result in an incorrect memory display anymore. Good catch Starwed.
  • Yellowed Maps no longer pretend to be multiusable. Good catch, Cryptodynamic.

And, of course, we have a bunch of typo fixes thanks to PaidPiedPiperPal, Rykar, Argeth, Slyspawn, and Valliant. Thanks everyone :)

Cheers!
