Change to Description Display

Made a change to the item/skill/buff/technique descriptions so they display in the right hand ‘chat’ pane instead of as a pop-up. If you’re not seeing this behavior, clear your browsers cache.

The original suggestion for this was from Nytmare, but hopefully it’ll also resolve some IE8 issues Crovax1234 has been seeing. If you have any problems with this or it bugs you for some reason, feel free to drop me a line.

Minor Updates and Fixes

Just wanted to give a quick rundown of the updates over the last few days. Life was kind of busy over the weekend, but really got to crank some stuff out today.

The biggest change on my side that won’t affect people directly is another layer of potential customization with choices. Basically, it’ll be really streamlined for me to add options that only appear sometimes. Which, as you can imagine, allows for some cool stuff. Special thanks to Cryptodynamic and Man Mobile for helping work out some of the initial bugs with the change.

  • Players with a space in their user names should now be able to use the password reset form. Thanks for the bug report, Sir Cheddar.
  • The notification that you posted a gang message now won’t imply you put slashes everywhere. Thanks The Kitchen Sink.
  • Valera’s been poking around and helped me resolve some issues with trying to equip unequipple items and talk to contacts you don’t know. Thanks Valera!
  • Your credits listing on the left will now automatically update when you buy something from a store. Thanks for the note, RBK!
  • There is now a Rest More option at the bottom of the rest page. Thanks for the suggestion, Xkiv!
  • The chess book now only costs 1 Energy (down from 2).
  • Getting dunked in sewage now has a bit more effect than before.
  • And thanks for a bunch of typos fixes from The Kitchen Sink, PaidPiedPiperPal, Metro, and Lester.

That’s it for now. The Gang Warfare updates are coming along nicely. The main batch of content is done, but I still need to do some coding for the new hideout upgrades and new Techniques.

Update Spree!

First off, hello to everyone from Kingdom of Loathing! Nice to see all the new faces. If you run into any bugs, even seemingly trivial stuff, please send me a message or bug report.

I believe I’m caught up on all the messages and bug reports for now, so if I missed anything, feel free to resend it. I am actually still in the process of moving, but I’m supposed to be settled with internet access by Friday.

Here is a quick rundown of the bug reports that we’ve caught up with:

  • Thanks to Man Mobile and Squarebob Fancy Pants for reporting problems with registering accounts containing a space. That should now work properly.
  • Paid Pied Piper Pal managed to find (but not fall victim too) a bug that’d kill off Lo for no good reason. He’s also helped test out a lot of the weirdness with a dying man in the Slags.
  • Everyone’s favorite Third Eye Lieutenant should respond to questions about the Lost Son in more situations. Thanks to Argeth for this one.
  • Thanks to Jick for pointing out some problems in the quest log when selling the Squatter King’s crate of medicine.
  • Expanded the explination of what’s going on when you open a crate of Eclipse. Thanks to Audesapere for pointing out the vagueness.
  • Finally fixed the border around the map images (particularly between the two on the Docks) in Firefox. Thanks to Nytmare for the nudge on this one.
  • Also cleared up a nice batch of typos from Argeth, Rikitikitavi, A Naked Jew, and Llamaman.

Third Eye Bosses and Other Changes

Added a bit of content today and a bunch of little options.

  • Some difficulty balancing on the bosses in the University Quest. Shard is easier, although it may not be readily apparent how at first, and Sabre is more difficult, largely centered around his opening attack. Feel free to keep critiquing things on the forum thread as we get this hammered out.
  • The process for getting the asylum key has also changed. Thanks to PaidPiedPiperPal for some of the inspiration.
  • Two new skills have been added related to the most recent side quest. One of them is a potential choice after the side quest (like the others). The other is a free-for all, although I can’t promise it’ll be easy to find.
  • Killing Trash Golems in the Midgard Warehouse will no longer cause crazy errors. Thanks Lord Finisher!
  • If you have completed the Slags Antidote quest, Boris will offer you his alternate reward as an option when completing his quest. Thank you, PaidPiedPiperPal, for the suggestion.
  • Indirect Fire has new, less rotated, art.
  • There are now quest entries for the ‘Trouble on the Docks’ quest when you’re getting back to everyone for your rewards. Good suggestion from PaidPiedPiperPal over on the forums.
